Request: The Fifth Element's ZF-1, in Tribes 2.

The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies. One scene includes a really cool weapon with many deadly modes. This is called the ZF-1, made by the character named Zorg in the movie. My only goal in this thread is to see if any good mod creators are able to recreate this weapon in Tribes 2. I've provided information below to help create this weapon, if anyone chooses to.

WEAPON NAME: ZF-1

Listed below you'll find the mode name, some extra information, and my own ideas of how it would look in Tribes 2 when considering the projectile and the effect of each mode. Each mode name and any extra information are taken directly from the movie as Zorg describes the weapon. Also, the order of the modes is accurate with the movie description.

The projectile and mode effects are simply my own ideas given out to help with the creation of this weapon in Tribes 2, if it's ever made. They are there for an initial idea of how to replicate the movie's weapon into Tribes 2 as accurate as possible. Smarter and more creative ideas are encouraged.

Mode 1: Titanium Recharger
Extra Information: Zorg mentions a 3000 round clip with bursts of 3-300. Replay button: one shot, and replay sends every following shot to the same location.
Projectile: Just a bullet. Perhaps the first targeting shot would be a larger bullet than the replay bullets.
Mode Effect: Similar to a chaingun: enough shots and the target dies.
Mode 2: Rocket Launcher
Projectile: It's a rocket launcher.
Mode Effect: An explosion.
Mode 3: Arrow Launcher
Extra Information: Before Zorg fires the ZF-1 in this mode, you can see a count of ten arrows for his following shot. He also mentions that you get the choice of explosive or poisonous gas arrows.
Projectile: I don't know what would be a better projectile rather than the regular Chaingun projectile.
Mode Effect:Enough shots and the target dies.
Mode 4: Net Launcher
Projectile: I have no idea.
Mode Effect: I believe that once the target is hit, they lose all ability to change mobility. They can't jet, and their player will follow in their current direction due to momentum until they are naturally stopped (it's as though the person themself simply let go of their keyboard and mouse when hit). I wouldn't see any damage from this mode except from fall damage.
Mode 5: Flamethrower
Projectile: A long flame.
Mode Effect: It burns.
Mode 6: Ice Cube System
Projectile: A mist of white or cyan.
Mode Effect: After enough consistent aim, oer after enough hits in a certain amount of time, the target will become frozen in place. My idea is that it'd look similar to a hit with the Electro-Static Pulse with the Super Chaingun.
Feel free to provide your own ideas to how each mode would work and look best in Tribes 2. Give opinions of any kind.

    I had wondered when someone would finally make this post. I really like the layout, seems ever so convincing, interestingly.

    Aah, I love how pissed of they get with the deal, Anyways, it seems like a very convincing project to set hands on.

    But no really, This would make a great set for some sort of gametype.
    It would be nice to see if anyone actually follows through with this.

    lol, if you gave me like... 4 hours of free time for 3 - 4 days, I could probably accomplish it.
  • i just saw that movie the other day.. GOD she is soooo fine in that movie.. and her cute little mannerisms that she does when she doesn't know how to explain something.. wow.... so hot.. i like that gun tho too..

    First Off, That post is ridiculously gay in every way, and should be deleted.

    Secondly, I was chatting in hex. If you don't know what hex is, look it up.

    Thirdly, I have no idea wtf you're talking about with the shrike, I didn't use one vehicle while I was there.

    Lastly, I timed out.

    This is kinda a random, off topic way to get after Phantom for something personal. Considering I took a little more time on my topic's post, I wouldn't want this thread getting locked because you fail to use a private message. Don't cause an argument here.

    Small question, then...how would this weapon be integrated? And into what?

    It'd be awesome, but would a separate type of game/mod have to be designed in order to flesh this in with everything else? Or perhaps just an Admin toy?

    I actually asked Keen to make it first because his Meltdown 2 mod, which I often play, has a wide range of weapons that contain different modes like the ZF-1. While it wouldn't fit into the Meltdown 2 world, I thought it'd be something Keen could create, if he wanted to.

    I did not suggest it as an implementation into Meltdown 2, though. I think it'd be most fun as an Admin toy. In the simplest way, I just wanna see a good replication of the ZF-1 in Tribes 2. I love the Admin weapons in my Electricutioner's Construction server, which I never host... this would be a fun weapon to mess around with.

    WeaponItem::OnPickup (Prevent non-admins from using this?)
    WeaponImage::OnFire (allow for multiple modes to work)
    The function the SCG's EMP uses (to freeze people?)
    .setEnergy & .setRecharge rate (net got caught in jets?

    Okay, despite the sheer irony I'd love to point out, I have another question: what weapon combinations would have to be tossed together to make that kind of appearance?

    Or would it just be a generic gun with all those settings?

    This is an easy weapon to make, however given my limited time and resources (since it would best fit in it's own mod) is a little more tedious than I'm willing to spend on Tribes 2, especially with the Unreal Development Kit release. To really accurately replicate this weapon, you'll need to add a lot more than just weapon modes though.

    I'm sure someone could piece this together in an hour or two though O.o

    Also, in respect to the topic, i also have a suggestion.. why stop at just making a gun.. why not a mod? an rpg mod? the bioderm skin resembles the orc looking creatures in that movie.. there could be 2 teams.. and we could do a RPG, or even a DM on a ship that a player creates.. maybe even that cruise ship from the movie.. but a smaller version at least.. i think that would be a great idea.. i really love that movie, and anyone else who does could appreciate that kind of fun... if anyone takes the time to put together that weapon, i'll start building the ship =P
