Towing Company Sues Student for $750k Over FB Page!

I just found this online:
Some college student made a Facebook page for people against a local towing company in Kalamazoo Mi. The T&J towing turned around and sued him for $750,000!

Why I think T&J towing and their lawyer are a joke:
  • First off, internet forums(not just referring to bulletin boards) are considered interpersonal communication (libel/slander do not apply).
  • There are no successful precedents for such a lawsuit.
  • Serving a cease and desist notice with monetary damages is ridiculous!
  • And finally, there is no way he could possibly justify $750k in actual damages. Those would have to be punitive damages which would be completely uncalled for.

This is probably a case of the towing company's lawyer simply trying to make a name for himself.

    Yet another court case filing online communication as person-to-person.

    This sucks for him not because he's in danger of losing but because of all of his time this is wasting..

    If only a certain person in our little community would realise the implications of this and realise where everyone else in the community is coming from when they laugh at the petty insignificances of any of his attempts to proof himself to us.
