The metal crate packs have good textures for stretching and flattening to get grid metal interior floors, or a metal outer hull appearance.
Those aside, a transporter pad stretched huge and with the teleporter box item and beam deleted makes a good engine exhaust port.
Try to incorporate some diagonal lines, curved areas, windows/doors, docking bays into your ship too, since it's a 3D structure.
If anyone has some of my ship save files kicking around they have some good features, but I don't suppose anyone would.

Ah here we go, found some terrible screenies of my carrier on an old thread here, hehe. For some reason not using my texture packs, and an unfinished rough version, but nevermind that! Some of the features are just about visible.

Obviously, you can see the cratepacks making some of the outside surface, although they're not all there or lined up properly yet.
Slightly harder to see is the curve in the forcefield door docking bay (FF turned off in the screenie), following the underneath of the ship, and the tele pad engine blocks.

Curved skylights using FFs, exterior crates again.

The main hallway and my silly peiceheavy captains chair, hehe. Arched doorways, but again not finished because textures are showing, and there's an inventory station in the middle of the hall!
There was a fancy engine setup in the engine room, and docking bay, but I guess there's no screenie for those.
Hope this helps despite the shoddy screenies.
