Benefits of Posting?

Are there any benefits for acquiring a certain post count? I just noticed my PM space jumped from 50 to 200. I don't know if that was krash changing it, or if I got benefits. I know some forums have "classes" which allow for more attachment space or whatever (i.e. "elites" or "icons") the more you post/do.

  • I modified the PM space on the usergroups when I added the group for the ACCM staff since I noticed I was nearing around 50 myself. I've never really known incentives to be all too effective in getting more posts, so the forums here are pretty much straight up post or don't post. People can already change their own titles, post as many attachments as they want (unless they manage to get it up to a couple hundred GB), I can't think of a whole lot that could be offered that someone would be interested in going for.
Special stars or access to some secret areas perhaps? If we offered some sort of product maybe they could earn points towards a download or something...
  • Hmm... what "kind" of downloads? ;)
I would appreciate it if someone else would comment on this.
  • I dissapprove...
  • I think I have the most posts (Krash doesn't count because he's administrator/forum founder)! And, why don't you like the idea (I may be I'm endorsing this because of the last sentence :p)?
  • Master-chief- has more than me. :(
  • Lol. I'm just not quite sure, the idea has a bad ring to it I suppose.
  • You just don't like it when I enjoy things! :(
  • I now have more than Master-chief-! :D

    As of now:
    Master-chief-: 175
    Eolk: 176
  • Ahem, Recount.
  • I currently see a 188 on mine
  • Before this post:
    Eolk: 193
    Master-Chief-: 192
    :)
  • Naosyth: 43! :)
  • Naosyth is beating us!
  • O.o Was your math teacher a random bum from under the bridge?
  • He was. He was also my biology teacher.. but.. i didn't learn much, just that the Government is putting fluoride in the drinking water (which i KNEW, so i guess i didn't learn anything.)

The benefits of posting are... People get to read what you think.
  • people get to read what you think, its brilliant
  • O.o Was your math teacher a random bum from under the bridge?

Now you know why math is my worst subject.
  • You let a bad teacher get in your way?
  • Yep.. That was a year ago. Now I have to have Algebra 2 next semester, and algebra 2 for the first semester of my senior year, then start Algebra 3 for the following semester. I might have to go again during the summer to finish it up, which really pisses me off.

    - I don't think I could of done anything about it, because they would just think I was lieing to them, on the other hand, I had a package of 19 witnesses aside from me..
But I don't know, wasn't thinking at the time.
  • hmm, i got behind in math because i switched from a school that used trimesters to a school that used semesters
  • I never took "no, you can't switch into advanced math" for an answer. In fact, I never took "no" for an answer any time I felt entitled to anything.

And... if a single teacher can get in your way of learning, I'm surprised you know anything at all. Teaching is only half of the process, and the responsibility of teaching relies just as much on the learner as it does on the "teacher". If that wasn't the case, what would be the purpose of studying a subject before a test?

Considering the abysmal nature of public education in the United States, you would be dooming yourself to a life of subservience to the cultural and economic elite if you rely on your teachers to learn. Of course... hydraulic despotism on the ability to think is part of the design of the education system.

Don't sweat the details, little monkey. Leave the strategy to the "experts". Trust the "experts", because they know more than you ever will. Follow the rules. Follow the "experts".
  • Half of my knowledge relied on teachers, half of it relied on basicly myself to try hard, and I'm basicly an "I don't care right now" in that class, but I know I WILL regret it later, as some jobs will require expert mathmaticians.
