Anybody moved on to Garry's Mod?

Hey, guys. Bulldozer here from ye olde Tribes 2 Construction mods. I realized when attempting to register an account here that I'd already made it as well as a thread heralding my return, then got distracted again by Garry's Mod. I come here wondering if any of you guys have moved on to GMod, because I think it'd be pretty cool to remaster some old creations. I know FoamySquirrel, KillerHAHA, and Guided have for sure - haven't heard from anybody else, though. If you haven't played GMod, which I find unlikely, it's a sandbox game that started as a third party mod for Half-Life 2 and advanced into an official VALVe-supported game that can be purchased for $10.

If you don't have a Steam account, you can download Steam and register at http://www.steampowered.com/ and add me to your friends list via my profile (http://steamcommunity.com/id/tehpirate). I've got a group for old Tribes 2 builders and if you joined up we could coordinate a server for old time's sake.

This feels like advertising and I've been conditioned not to advertise, but I miss you guys and felt that this was appropriate to make. You have to buy HL2 and probably HL2 DM for it to work, then buy Gmod, which costs in total about $35, but it's worth it.

TL;DR: I miss you guys, buy gmod 10, come build with me

I hope to recieve an arseload of friends invites over the next few days from you guys. On a final note, please don't take this like I'm trying to steal members... I just miss you guys. Peace out! <3

  • Great to have you back Bulldozer, back in the day Krash hosted a construction server on Gmod for The-Construct, I think it was even before I came around to this community.
It would be nice if we could persuade someone to host another Gmod server for The-Construct community, it would be pretty fun, and interesting to see eachothers creations, and posting them in the Creations forum.
  • Heh, I'm working on remastering one of my old ship designs in gmod right now (The Trinity class, if any of you remember it. Narrow-hulled, round bridge, triple deck frigate). I thought it'd be cool to try it out because the Trinities always got positive responses when I built them in servers.

    I got torrented G-MOD, but I didn't move on.
  • I got torrented G-MOD, but I didn't move on.
    Same here.
  • I have it, on my desktop in the U.S.

(I know I could download it here but i don't wanna.)

When I get back to college I may start playing again.
  • I play G-mod, but I haven't moved on.

I think we still have a Goon Haven server up and running. Drop by on IRC (irc.arloria.net / #GoonHaven) if you want to play with us.
  • Eh, I'm too lazy to install an IRC client. :P I prefer Steam Friends, honestly, because it's easier to stay in contact.
  • Well, I have Hamachi up and running, for those of you who just want to drop on by, do so. I will be trying to host a Gmod 10 Server under Hamachi, it is REQUIRED that you have a LEGALLY bought version of Gmod to join the server, That's just the way Steam is with Hamachi-over-lan.

    Contact Info:
    AIM: Master Peppens
    MSN: [email protected]

    Hamachi Info:
    Network: The-Construct
    Pass: Construct

If you are looking into joining the server, you must enable the console on Gmod 10 by right clicking the item labeled "Garry's Mod" in your "My Games" On steam, and click Properties. Once you have done that, Click on 'Set Launch Options', and add "-console" without quotes.
    Then click Okay.
Start up Gmod, and type the following once you are at the Start Menu, and are connected to the Hamachi network,

    "Connect 5.183.120.92"

This is juts a test-out sort of thing, so it may or may not work, That is why I have provided this information, to see if anyone can join the server at all.
  • G-Mod fails, so I stayed in T2. :p
  • But Halo rulez!
    (yep, all of them)
  • Not sure what Halo has to do with the topic.

Same, I planned on buying it multiple times before, but never did.
  • It's not very addictive.
