There are a few things they've said they intend to do that are forgivable, but without dedicated servers and modding we're left without what kept Tribes alive in the first place.
Which is why this has no chance beyond the release.
Honestly, if they turn out to be dumb enough to release a game with less features than T2 (which lasted a little bit longer than the other tittles on the series..) then they deserve their game to get twenty players top on the release week.
I mean what are they going to put their focus on?, hats?
Its TF2 All over again.
There's still time for them to turn around, but the argument I believe they were using to support not allowing dedicated servers - something to the effect of "so we can keep control of and support the game as long as possible" - not only falls apart under scrutiny, but serves as a huge slap in the face to the community if taken at its basest: We don't trust you to run your own servers. Rent them from us!
And to the "Renting a server" bit. Thats just another excuse to make money. Its like saying "Give us moneyz to play teh game. lololol kthnxbai."
No thanks.
Tribes loadouts are a massive strategic element, and critical to the classic gameplay. Every possible loadout, every weapon, every armor, has a distinct use and balance, with an opposing loadout to level the playing field. Once you start restricting how a team functions, you completely change the dynamic of the game. Throw in a HO to one player who pays $10, and you've got yourself a party.
Also sounds like you can only ever carry two weapons, and your loadout can have mines OR grenades. Wouldn't be surprised if they used matchmaking to join games.
If you're going to call it Tribes, make Tribes. We've been spit on before with Vengrances, but at this point even it was closer to the mark. Seems like Tribal Ascenda is just kicking dirt in our collective faces.

GG Tribes. Rest in Peace.
You'll probably have to purchase the gravcycle to begin with.
Yes, around the intellectual property that either belonged to nobody or noone cared about, plus technically reviving the master server was good for business, while making private servers for a new game could be seen as "piracy", those pesky bastards!
I trully hope they don't turn out evil though, seeing as TF2 moved to the F2P business, I remember I read somewhere that F2P is going to be the best market for online games of the future, so my gues would be that the guys in charge of T:A are going to follow a model similar to that of other F2P FPS's, like TF2.
Maybe they plan to make money out of server renting alone..
hopefully..
EDIT : that's a bloody lot of abbreviations!
Shrike and Havoc Heavy Transport fly past in that order at the end then the outtake (I think) seems to show sticky nades... I'm starting to think its trying to stick to the success of halo and brand it as tribes now really...
I guess all we can do now is wait until a public demo release occurs and we get to play it for ourselves. Considering how that footage is beta I estimate sometime either this month or next month said demo comes out. Game engine is very much now confirmed to be UE3... possibly UE3.5 (Tribes Vengeance was powered by UE2.5 according to wikipedia, so its possible.)
It is unreal, yes there are sticky grenades, and yes there are more vehicles on the way
EDIT: Why in the world did humans edit my post O_o'

I didn't even know I COULD. I meant to quote you. Haha sorry for the confusion.
FURB's thread on the T:A forums. ;D
My thoughts are that if T:A is great, then fantastic, we have an awesome new Tribes game to play; but if it turns out to be terrible, then we use the game's failure to get a lot more people playing Tribes: Next. I don't imagine convincing people to join Tribes: Next would be that difficult if T:A were to fail. "If you want a REAL Tribes gaming experience, come play Tribes: Next!". Which, would also be fantastic because that's really the one thing Tribes: Next is missing right now, more people playing.
On an unrelated note, why has no one posted this song in this forum category yet...
