That looks like it should be a bot skin.
  • Yeah dragon, you're right, it does remind me of a bot skin.
  • must...test...new...skin
  • My skin or Nukems?
  • yours, nukem never released his
  • nice skin, kind of reminds me of the old Counter-Strike.
(what do you mean you couldn't get the alpha layer to work?)
  • A skin in tribes 2 requires an alpha layer in order for it to be not shiny/reflective. It looks like a checkerboard in Photoshop.
  • thats what that thing is?
  • i know, just asking why he couldn't get it to work
  • i dont have photo shop, and GIMP doesnt support layers in .png
  • The alpha channel is supported, else you would not see any reflection in game. If it's "like a mirror", this means you have an alpha channel, and it's most likely filled entirely with white.

If you check the GIMP docs you'll see that it does cover alpha channels a bit in the section on the layers menu.
  • hmmm, ideas.
  • thanks krash, ill try that
  • Those camo skins are nice.
    So true....
  • I like shiny/reflective skins... they're different. I also love my hi-res skins, the old ones were so... awful, now that I think about it. So my new ones aren't just hi-res, they also shine (not the same way that it would without an alpha-layer).

  • well i made these camo skins, but i couldnt make the alpha layer work, so turn off enviroment mapping, or they will look like a mirror :P tell me if you like them. put the .vl2 file in yout tribes2/gamedata/base folder
edit- the .vl2 file's directory was wrong, so it wouldnt work, if you downloaded it before, delete the old one and get this one instead
Ummmmm... don't you install it to either the \base directory, or the gui?

  • Photoshop rocks! I'm still using an older version. Been meaning to install CS2. I know... why bother when CS3 is out? 3 daughters can be quite expensive!
  • BTW... anyone have an unwrapped wireframe pic to use as a skin template?
  • Version 1.1 is now up on the first post! Details added to the first post!
