I like how no one bothered to answer this question.
Well, to make a transparent skin, that is not possible with the current given tools that are out there, as the game does not have the capability to output the visuals of enhanced physics, graphic over graphic to manipulate and transfer what's behind the skin, to the actual player.
The grayscale alpha layer also plays a huge role in this, all skins need it, but with a grayscale you can't really take off the glow effect on the skin.
The best you could get away with is a complete ghost-coloured skin, like white.
Only problem there'd be with the T2 invisi-skin is that in order to "not" see it, you'd have to have it as well. If there are others who have the skin DL'd, then they'll "see" the result, but ones with just a standard set (or NOT a cloak skin) would still see you visibly. @_@ Wow...that was a hard concept to flesh out into words...
Oh, and IRL I know we're developing cloaking technology...the freaky part will be when it hits the black market.
They already got some of those working in Japan, like four or five years ago.
By now the advances in nanotechnology and the overall capability of japs to create sick shit must have made it possible to implement that technology into nanomaterials, most likely.
And considering a device like that would be of highly military interest, chances are we would only hear about it ten years after they start making that shit.
Yeah just open up a skin VL2 file into Adobe Photoshop, erase all contents, and save it as a transparent PNG! No, this will not work. You honestly thought you could simply make a transparent skin for Tribes 2 and run around like you have a constant Cloaking Pack? I think someone keeps getting killed in Tribes 2.
It was worth a shot. A constantly cloaked skin combined with an already difficult opponent would be terror.

In real life... why haven't we replicated chamalions yet?

They change color due to emotion, not as a defense mechanism. They're nature's mood ring.
So technically, we're already replicating chameleons. You turn red when embarrassed, and metaphorically blue when amorous.
What we need to do is replicate the cuttlefish.
Consciously able to change their color and appearance. I think scientists are using the cuttlefish-method of displaying color to develop a new flat-screen TV.

Ninjas everywhere! But no one would know...
science has managed to teleport a single atom 1meter away, and they have managed to cloak one spectrum of a fair few spectrums of light so far

Though, if I am wrong somewhere, correct me.
Your name is not Cornucopia, it's master chief.
What about cloak packs?

Maybe they're watching us, right now.

I do not turn metaphorically blue when I'm amorous, thank you very much.
I turn blue when I'm melancholy.
Amorous is more of a... neon pink and green... metaphorically.
Its because you're a species of Eolk.

thats not my smurf...
it smells like a 12 year old's revenge.
Ehh, your the boss.
technically yes, but we were all bypassing it with the thing, so go figure.
