To those that cannot connect, downgrade your minecraft.jar to the previous, pre 1.2 version, 1.1_02. Thal has not updated the server to 1.2

Look for your Mc.jar backups.

Nope, it works fine if you downgrade your jar to the non updated version

ok, i have no idea, how to backup my version, im looking for the mc.jar backups and cant find what your talking about. Alittle more specific would be awesome, im not familiar with java, or minecraft at all. Even though ide really like to mod it some

Do a search for Minecraft on your computer. Look in the bin folder for minecraft.jar

If you have never backed up that file before, then you need to get an un-updated patch minecraft.jar and replace it with that.

If you have, then replace the minecraft.jar in your bin folder with the old backup.

Server's up on a temp map on 1.2_01. It's currently in offline mode due to the mc.net issues, so if you make it past the initial auth by some stroke of luck, you won't time out on the server.
