EVE Online

Hi guys,
I was curious about EVE Online. I've looked at their website and I've seen that some of you play it. Is it a good game? I might be joining after I hear some of your thoughts.
Maybe some of you can help me out when I start! :D

  • i played it for few days, after that i uninstalled it...
  • I can help you out, it's a great game. It has a bit of a learning curb (gasp), and requires time before you actually get to kick some real ass. But it's worth it. My in-game name is Blnukem 192 if you want to convo me.
  • I do like it also, but $15 a month is too much for me to pay.
  • Get a job you lazy bum. :D
  • I probably will next summer.

    This post should be useful.

EVE Online is one of those games that people either love, or hate. (depending on the person) EVE Online has Excellent graphics but some players find gameplay lacking. EVE Online is generally a very complex game, it is a slower paced game and can take time to progress and generally isn't enjoyable for people who prefer fast paced gameplay action. EVE Online requires much patience because multiple skills are required for piloting a ship and using equipment/Weapons, skills are trained in real time, training times may very from as much as 10minutes - 3months. (depending on skill) In EVE, there are many different ways to make Money/ISK/In-game Currency, for example, you can go Mining, Missioning, PVPing, Ratting/Pirate Killing, Salvaging, Wormhole exploring, Scamming... (Lol. Darn Jita....), and a bunch of other crap. It's best to choose a career path that you would enjoy most, because some professions such as mining can get pretty boring, it's also best to focus all your skills towards one profession for efficiency. Another thing that's important in EVE is your Corporation/Alliance, if you have a good corporation or Alliance you may progress in-game much faster, especially financially. Having a good Corporation/Alliance also makes the game much more enjoyable.

    (My Take)

I played EVE for 1.5Months (Including Trial Account) And overall, I found EVE Online to be an enjoyable game, although I found EVE to be somewhat complex and difficult to understand at first. The graphics are great, and it's fun to team up with an alliance to do Missions and PVP, and to me, EVE Online was worth playing.

Notice: It took me 1.5Months to train the required and necessary skills to reach my goal of piloting a well fitted/equiped Battleship. (Rokh) - (which is one of the middle-class ships in EVE) (I earned around 350,000,000.00+ ISK including Ships+Equipment After playing for 1.5Months with assistance from Corp./Alli.)

I recommend creating a trial account.
  • ...Yeah, when I'm rich and living alone, I'm so gonna try this.

A Tribal Fleet...god that would be amazing.
  • Cant make new threads, using an existing one. Eco friendly.

Numbuh its been summer and I dont see you on EVE.

Nuke, I dont trust you, so much as target me and I'll pop a cap in yo bitch ass so to speak.

I hate being targeted, its impolite.

    Aww.... How cute.
  • EVE sucks. That is all.
  • Not when you do something other than mining or mission running the entire time.
  • I've done everything in EVE. I've played it since it's release... acted as a mercenary, police force, mined, soloed level 4's, did level 5's with my corp, built my own ships... everything. It's too much work or too boring to get ahead and wait 3 months for your next skill to train, and good luck to new players, they don't stand a chance vs vets.

    Sucks.
  • That's your opinion.
  • I've tried it 2x and lasted about 3 days both times and I don't like it. But that really isn't trying the game I guess. Maybe if I put about 6 months into I'll enjoy it? But what is the point of that?

*doesn't think waiting that long to get into a game is worth it*
  • I agree with Humans' point of view. It sounds awesome about a year into it, but I'm not willing to devote that much time to a game to have to start enjoying it, especially if I'm paying for the privilege of hopefully getting to the point where I enjoy it.
  • It's a great game....

...if you don't mind waiting literal months for skills to train.
  • You could just play Team Fortress I guess...
  • Aww.... How cute.
    meow. :/

keen, it only "sucks" if you suck.

And your skills wont take months if you train your learning skills to 5.

    Still take a while.

Pay my membership for it and ill be on it like every day.
  • I thought rappers were rich?

It does when you're learning for tech II battleships. Regardless, skills take time to train, and while that's good in a way, it kind of impedes on the fun of EVE for me. If you had the option of time learning or grind-based learning, or mission-based progression or something... something besides having to wait weeks and months for a skill so you can even BEGIN to build or buy that next upgrade ship that's only 30-40% better for 5 billion isk... THEN we can begin to talk fun.

    I hate rap.

    except that
  • Played it for an hour, then uninstalled it.
  • Everyone has different likes and dislikes. I cant force you to play it, but Id like you all to.
  • One major turnoff for this game is that unlike most other MMO's, like WoW for example, EVE requires you to actually *gasp* think. Some people just aren't into EVE's style of game play, but most people who first try EVE have no idea what to do, and immediately start mining until they think that's all EVE is about, then rage quit and complain about it being nothing but shooting rocks. It's a hit an miss game, you'll either like it and quickly learn about the game, or you'll hate it, and not do much else but complain. But the one great thing about EVE is, it filters all the little kiddies and WoWtards from playing it, which is one reason why I love it so much. :)
  • Without WoWtards the game will run out of meat.

Ive seen about 10 WoWtards, 3 of them in my former corp, the other 7 running away from them.
  • They're not WoWtards if they're not actively playing WoW. :p They're just tards.
