An interview with Construct

So playing Minecraft, we play with some of the T2 guys from TC and such, well one of them is Construct, one of the original devs of the Construction mod. So we were both reminiscing about the past 10 years, and how far it has come.

I asked him first off, how the mod came to be. It all starts with him getting the game on release day, and playing shifter mod. For those that don't know, shifter mod has deployables, lots of them. Well one of such deployables are blast walls. Not like our blast walls, preset, pre-sized defensive walls to throw up wherever. Well he was having so much fun with that, he wanted to push that further.

He went to a forum, and met Mostlikely, who started coding the mod. He even said himself that he was astonished on how far they made his vision exceed his expectations. The mod then gained another dev, JackTL, and from there, version by version, created one of the best mods in the game. From .48 with just LSBs, inv stations and generators etc, to the .69 you all know today. Through the era of the original forums, to all the advancements in Quantum mod, Metallic, and the many other variations out there.

Which made me deduct that due to his concept, it spawned this dedicated player base, from that, people such as Electrocutioner (thyth), Krash, etc, were attracted and enjoyed coding this mod, and pushing it further along, eventually coming to making Tribes next and the support for that. Tribes 2 surviving for so long, and other gaming companies seeing this dedicated player base, spawned Tribes Vengeance, and soon, Tribes:Ascend, and Tribes Universe.

So in short, a small yet important thanks is deserved for Construct's (aka Limitless) brilliant idea and leading the team 10 years ago to get where we are now today.
