Crikey, Construct Still Alive?

Heya Been a while since I checked for the construct forums, I thought it rolled over and died.

Any old timers or the original modmakers who might remember me out there? Think I might still have been Using Eiziekiel at the time, not sure.

I don't have T2 on my mac here at uni.... felt like getting some retro building going on, pity! =D

Wonder if any of me old threads and saved buildings are still on here somewhere...

Many servers up for the mod atm, or are most people in whatever the halflife one is called (Garrys?).

Not many servers have been up, lately, but, you almost always see at least one person playing.

As for GarrysMod, the community is definately better than ours. I'm sure some people have ported over, but, mostly due to the fact that tribes 2 is outdated and almost dead.

Also, GarrysMod isn't a tribes 2 construction equivalent. GarrysMod is a sandbox mod, and tribes 2 construction is more... for building.

Yeah, after T3o went down the old database was lost, so I had to throw these up from scratch. Most and Tess came around a while back to say hi, and Cons knows they're up and approves - but I still haven't convinced him to register.

I'm pretty sure I've still got a couple of your older buildings saved, but I lost most of the rest I had a few years back.

Bigger, yeah, that's what I meant. Better would depend on the person's preference of community. The GarrysMod community often lacks censorship since most of its users are above 21.

Still, I can think of more valid reasons for being a better community.

The community you guys know today is just a shadow of what's stuck in my memory as our home, but the tribes communities have always seemed to hold on to that little bit of heart that made us closer and feel more welcome than did other games. The defining aspect of these sort of communities, for me at least, has never been about quantity to the point of anonymity or how it sells or what others think about it; but the people enjoying the company, meeting, liking, and becoming friends with eachother. We all know eachother, for the most part respect eachother, and all sorts of people who met up in the old days still keep in contact with eachother every day over half a decade since the start even though the community as they knew it isn't anywhere to be found.

They actually have quite a lot of censorship, it's just hidden away. They even ban around or over 80 people a day.
Censorship isn't really a big issue - though there is something to be said for a forum given an entire section dedicated to penis jokes and the like - and the only reason our servers are filtered and regulated for inappropriate material is because a lot of young / very young kids, and presumably their parents, enjoy playing the game and deserve to have a comfortable environment to play in. Just the other day I joined the game to see one of the players trying to bypass the filter and heckle a 6 year old because he'd built a generator on frequency 1.
We don't censor most things on the forums (GD in particular), and only ask that you keep it clean because some of the areas will obviously be looked through by all manner of people looking for help with the mod.

By the way, I'm afraid your demographic would show to be wholly innacurate, you'd more likely find that less than 10-20% of the active userbase was born any earlier than 1990.

That's going over the top. Bypassing a curse filter in general does not appeal to me.

You're probably right, but, you don't get as many people under 13 there like you get here.

We have censorship because the generation that plays this game is probably younger than the generation that plays Garry's Mod. Also, the fact that the Source engine produces more "vivid" and "detailed" skins also puts a factor there. I've seen guys with too much time on their hands post up nude female game-models of your "favorite characters" (or of just plain random women).
Also, posting up "penis jokes" is obviously unacceptable here... isn't it? It goes against forum rules with "no pornography," although there was one account of an in-game link to a shock site...

All-in-all, they suck, we rock out loud! End of Story.

Non-sense. Get t2 and come build sometime. Its well worth it. Krash and i are working on a ship that is already 3K+ pieces. A new script lets us build to infinity!
