If you have the latest version of the game, you can get a construction-specific shortcut by installing the mod or using the SI installer, and you should also have a shortcut to classic already. (or check this thread: Tribes 2 doesn't launch - Out of date error)

my computer - Local Disk - Dynamix - Tribes 2 - Gamedata and use a shortcut there
