Con Mod Article in wikipedia?

I was thinking, you all guys must know the Wikipedia, and if not, then go rot in hell.
I wondered if you guys deemed it necesary for Con Mod to pass to inmortality by having it's own article in Wikipedia, so people from all over the globe may read it, and perhaps atract new , unaware potential conners (ConMod Midi-Chlorians).

So as always, who is with me?

You can fild the young article Here

  • Woot?, who the fuck deleted it?!

    I'm outraged.
  • Notability and unverified research guidelines for articles on Wikipedia, probably.

Only a Wikipedia admin can delete without a history page.
  • In the Tribes 2 article on Wiki, I added a small Con-Mod section near the bottom...long time ago.

Eolk tracked down the IP to Vegas, and therefore my computer. So yah. Guilty.
  • Yeah. Construction Mod is not notable enough to have it's own article.
  • That kind of thinking will get the mod killed IMO
  • I was an established Wikipedia user at one time. So, I think I know what I'm talking about. :p
  • I'll cut you Eolk.

never listen to people who say they "know what they're talking about".
People say, "let the professionals do it." bad idea, because then you're at the mercy of someone elses human flaws, when they mess up, you get screwed. I'll cut you Eolk.
  • Wtf, Alviss? Clear out some PMs so I can PM you. >:O

    neva!

    (ok)
  • What the heck! I can't send you a PM because you have exceeded your PM quota. Delete some, please, so I can send you a PM...
  • As for the "knowing what he's talking about" thing...dude...he tracked my friggin IP address from a wobsite...I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about...in this case, anway.

Why you ask? 'cus I agree. Con Mod isn't quite broadcasted enough to become recognized by a third party.

Con mod is the few, the proud, and the n00bs. Everyone outside barely knows it as a CTF game. Want a separate article? Get the media.
  • It was deleted because there wasn't enough content to identify what the article was actually for. If someone actually put some time and effort into writing a description and formatting it correctly, it will be accepted just fine.

If you don't think it's 'notable' enough for its own article you clearly haven't seen all the other sorts of obscure articles up there. While the mod - and the game itself - may seem comparitivly low-key when put up against more recent mainstream hits, it was actually quite popular when it was new, and a good deal of the people who played the game in its heyday would have some recollection of the mod.
Regardless, a good article has nothing to do with how popular it is, and shouldn't be a reason to think the information shouldn't exist.

Actually, anyone can find the IP address of the person who made that specific revision by clicking the history tab.

    eww.
Leave the thinking to alviss, as he has competant stuff to think about
  • you clearly haven't seen all the other sorts of obscure articles up there
Just because other articles do it doesn't necessarily make it right. Sometimes, an article's notability is addressed a few months after it was created.

If construction wasn't a third party mod and, I'd probably say that it'd have more of a chance. If the Construction mod article had been written at the peak of it's popularity, it'd also have maybe more of a chance also. I dunno. If you guys want to push and actually put a mod entry on Wikipedia, I'll help out.
  • Eolk, (Or whoever deleted the article) you're just an asshole (Friendly saying).
There was a Wikipedia article about con mod, you had two options, enlarge it or be an asshole and say "no!, I don't think Con-Mod should have an article of it's own so I will spoil it for everyone" and deleted the thing.

Now, why did I make an article about Con-Mod in Wikipedia?, because Con-Mod has proved to be a great platform for many things, and it could be used as inspiration for future generations of games (I'm not being corny).

You however, decided to stick your ego before everyone else and delete an article you didn't make.

If you don't think Con-Mod is worthy enough to have an article in wikipedia, leave it there, otherwise actually do something and help enlarge it.
I'm starting the article again because that shitty sub title we have is not worthy.

Oh, and one last thing, my friend who thinks he knows what he's talking about.
The wikipedia was made to inform, not to censor and save space, otherwise users wouldn't be able to edit it.
I've been a user in wikipedia for years now, and I've seen several, and I mean it, several articles about stupid , minimalist things.

Now, if you're not actually gonna help with the article, Fuck off.
  • I'm just following the Wikipedia guidelines. If you don't like them, I suggest you stop editing Wikipedia, then, or, ask the person who marked it for deletion how you could make it notable. Don't shoot the admin (it, in fact, wasn't me, I'm inactive from Wikipedia for now) because she deleted the page; she was just following the rules, not running around Wikipedia expressing her strange hate for tribes 2 construction by deleting its small page.
I've been a user in wikipedia for years now, and I've seen several, and I mean it, several articles about stupid , minimalist things.
I am a Wikipedia Tutnum/Veteran Editor with Rollback privs who is currently M.I.A. I've seen stupid articles on Wikipedia. Just because they're stupid doesn't mean they lack context or notability.
  • I wonder why you keep trying to make yourself look more interesting than what you really are.
And T2 Con Mod has shitloads of notability, so keep your words in your mouth.
And I retain my words, if you're not gonna help, fuck off, go brag about yourself somewhere else (Yes, I get pissed off too, just like you)
  • And I retain my words, if you're not gonna help, fuck off, go brag about yourself somewhere else (Yes, I get pissed off too, just like you)
I didn't (purposely) brag there, I was just merely stating that I had just as much/more experience than you with Wikipedia, so, I should know what I'm talking about, and that you don't need to state things I already know.
And T2 Con Mod has shitloads of notability, so keep your words in your mouth.
That would be true if you could verify your claims through sourced statements, and not original/personal research.
You don't have to believe me or do what I say, I'm just putting forth my thoughts. Go ahead and do whatever. I'll support your what your actions are either way.

Wikipedia sure turns you into an elitist, doesn't it?
  • wait so u guys want more people? well i guess that make sense but if we can "advertise" ill tell more people i thought u guys wouldnt want more people cause more people= more spammers
  • When did we say we wanted to advertise?
  • I just wanted to make a everlasting bronze statue of Con-Mod, and make it pass into inmortality.
I didn't want to make a giant ad that said "BUILD SHIT, KILL ZOMBIES AND HAVE FUN LOL"

And Eolk, it's not that I'm elitist, it's just that it pisses me off when people go around degrading my beliefs.
  • And Eolk, it's not that I'm elitist, it's just that it pisses me off when people go around degrading my beliefs.
I was talking more about myself, but... :p
I didn't want to make a giant ad that said "BUILD SHIT, KILL ZOMBIES AND HAVE FUN LOL"
I knew you wouldn't. As for Purple Duck, Wikipedia doesn't advertise that much, considering it's supposed to be "educational".
I just wanted to make a everlasting bronze statue of Con-Mod, and make it pass into inmortality.
Not sure Wikipedia will do a good job of that...
  • I'll support your what your actions are either way.

Do it then, and start doing something for the article, and for your people, comrade.
  • With the photo that Deflun presented on the wikipedia article, I am incredibly embarrassed. Had I not known about Tribes 2 and Construction mod previously, I would've closed that page faster than a website of dancing goatse gifs. I would like to request that the article is taken down, for now, and discussed here, where we can collect the important details, outline the article, and vote on a single writer - for uniformity.

To Deflun: Stop fighting over an article on wikipedia, you're not showing any of us that you should even touch this article. Eolk gave you some helpful advice and you jumped the gun on him because your poorly written article was deleted by an administrator who thought, "Hey! What the heck is this junk?"
Keep the ego out of the article, and don't get pissed when someone replaces your photo with something presentable.
  • I lol @ this thread.
  • Now I remember why I hate Foo.
    He/She is an idiot.
  • The tribes 2 wiki needs a link to the con mod wiki.

    Edit:
Nevermind, I just noticed there is one already.
  • We need "sources" to make it notable, and, Construction mod just doesn't have a notable description page (unless we smacked it on Moddb or something).

    He/She is an idiot.
Quick edit and erase: I don't need to join your flame fight to prove that you can't write this article neutrally. Heck, you'd rather just take everything I say, skim it, and call me stupid. I'm sure that will get you very far on wikipedia, where nobody will take your opinion at the end of the day. Don't write the article, let someone with better experience write it. Thyth or Krash would definitely be my first thoughts if I were to choose someone to write the final article.
