When I deploy anything, LSB etc. I can only see half of whatever is deploying and when i goto the 'other' side of the thing i deployed, it seems to 'disappear'. Any way to fix this?

How long is it? Tribes 2's visibility system isn't made for extremely large objects, so the ending result is the object disappearing if you stray too far from it's center (The exact point in which you deployed).
Well, it could be any size, even 4 meters. I'll give you another example, some of the parts of a generator are see-through. Lets say you deploy a 20 meter lsb. If you see it, then you're only looking at the part that isn't see through. If you move the the other side of the lsb or try to look at one of the ends, the lsb is see-through.
Well, how the fog system works is as a radial gradient originating at the centerpoint of the object defined by the mission's fog distance. If a piece exceeds that distance, it will fade at the same point it normally would by vanishing into the fog if you were viewing from its origin. The same applies to the altitude-based linear fog layers, where it's often much more noticeable on vertical objects.
What you're describing would require the fog to be set so low that you could barely see, so is likely a display issue on your end. What mission were you playing on? Are you running the latest video drivers? Did the game function properly in the past?
i recently re-installed t2 on my new laptop (vista home deluxe, sp1) and yes i have all the latest drivers. All display settings are set to max and its not that when you get to a certain distance you can't see it, its that it becomes see-through on one side of it. as if it wasn't there at all (even if you do run in to it)
Objects fading in the fog aren't relative to your position, but the position of the object. Say the fog distance is set to 500m, and the player deploys a >1000m beam... if they go to the opposite end of the beam, it will fade away entirely. This is what you appear to be describing, but on a much smaller scale.
Some laptop devices may have trouble rendering the fading objects... Have you tried changing the display device in your options? Sometimes switching between OpenGL and D3D has helped people in the past, but it could adversely affect the game performance.
your are looking at a 20 meter lsb sticking straight up into the air and you are also on the ground. you stafe to the left and forward a little and look to your right to find that the beam has disappeared.
i will try adjusting display options (windows aero changes to windows basic when i run the program)
I'll be back on tommorrow and tell you if it worked. thanks for you help thus far. (especially because this is a very weird issue)

Which Con mod?
Which half?
