Command sattelite upgrade

Ok I mentioned on my site and to a few people i wanted to upgrade the command satellite into a more useful and tactical piece of equipment.

My idea was to add in ai driven bots one being a airborne recon drone that you can equip with a hellfire and call in attacks with. The other being a M32 mounted on a small hover bot that can be used to support infantry in the open.

This would require that the command satellite also have a bot production bay and a control pad (for the satellite) and use of the bots would be limited.

Now i can do this, time providing, which i havent had much of lately. It looks though like im going to have some free time to work in the near future so, poll who thinks i should still do this?

  • Alright well ive began making the bots.

    The S11 aerial recon drone.
    -mountable hellfire for target strikes

    The S17 hunter assault bot.
    -mounted M32 or SAW... (haven't decided SAW will make it more expensive and fewer in numbers)

    Once i get those done ill link them together with the command satellite. Look for it to be done in 2 to 3 weeks. Ide usually have it done in 2 to 3 days, but my job has very high time constraints. Sorry but you'll have to wait to play with the uber bots. BTW the S11 aerial recon drone is already 30%.

    BL, btw if you have finished stream lining the allweapons.cs file ide like a copy of that. I could use the extra datablocks. Otherwise tack another possible week on before im done...

    Once thats done i might redo the /o command and make it more.... practical... then link that to the command satellite as well, but that will be after i release the comm sate.

    Also i need a idea on a buy system. For the drones. S11 recon drone should be cheap, but mounting a hellfire on it should be at least as expensive as the S11 itself, and a S17 should be more than a S11 but less than a S11 with a hellfire mounted on it. (money sounds like a dumb idea for this, so something original would be good.)
  • how about....in the CC, you "control" the satelite, then you use grenade and mine to select the drone and its wepon, when thats done, right click to spawn
  • well thats the thing about the command satellite. I do really do guis... and learning how would delay the production even more.

    So now i have a dilema where I have the left/right mouse buttons mine key grenade key and maybe the pack key to allow for buying drones, selecting people, giving orders, selecting drone groups, giving drones orders, moving the satellite, making drone groups, recalling S11's, and all that which i missed :|.

    The command satellite's about to get real complicated real fast.

    I really dont want to use chat commands like i did in TCCM, because honestly... that was gay... TCCM really needs a gui... hint hint.

    I still need to draw out a key scheme to make this work...

    I also need a good real limit for the command satellite... dont want some private hoping in it and doing hellfire tests on his own fort :)

    Also, the particle beam cannon idea.... no... sure raining fire from the sky randomly at your own will sounds cool but is gay.

    use f2 to bring up a small menu in top left/right, then select operations by clicking the words...eg
    -Spawn Drone-
    -Hellfire
    -<Whatever>
    -The uberdrone
    then, another menu appears,
    -SAW
    -M32

    and after

    -Location-
    -Zaxxman
    -Other guy
    -Sniper
    -the idiot aka teamkiller
    -isnt that zaxx again?

    That's what I told Eolk. He wanted to add some form of a laser to the Command Sat and I refused the idea.

  • Well the S11 will need to be able to move to a location and idle, land at spawn to repair, land at spawn to rearm (hellfire), patrol a selected area, and attack a selected target.

    Im thinking about making the land to rearm and attack one, where it goes ok, attack, flys back to base land rearms, takesoff attacks target point then fly back and land near the spawn pad.

    The S17 need to be able to move to a location, return to spawn pad to repair, and guard selected unit (follow them around).

    The command satelite also need to be able to build the bots, select the bots, group the bots, select players/vehicle, and give orders to both bots and players. So, im gonna need more along the lines of a gui for building, and commands.

    Or i could make it so you do mostly left and right click and you hold hot keys, MINE, GRENADE, and PACK keys, when you click to do command types. Then have a GUI for building bots.

  • Oh, and a note. Be VERY careful when you do the AllWeapons streamlining. Many of the CCM vehicles use plasma and mortar as ammo labels.

    I think Zaxx has a good idea with the F2 Menu though. F2 menu coding isn't that bad, once you figure it out.
  • Well... I don't really like the idea of an F2 menu, those who play ACCM/CCM use it very frequently just to check their score. (Yes I realize I can have it display scores and as well as useful options) But I just simply don't want an F2 menu.
  • make an all new menu that appears when you goto control the satellite, it appears in the middle of the screen and a mouse appears too

    But have a button (cmd) at the bottom which redirects you to a help menu.

  • Erm, no one uses the F2 menu. It's called hitting the ESC menu button, and then hitting it again. And it really doesn't matter anyways until you get a rank up.

  • YES! I finally got some work in. NO the whole things not done yet.

    I finsihed pretty much everything on the S11 but playtesting it took only i dunno 2 months...
    Testing will come later, like when the commandSats up.

    *crys* so much to do... If i can get some time it will be quick though.
