  • I could do an msi for the mod..... if possible, I might do an exe with an encrypted password on the site for the testers..... that way, it would be years before it gets hacked. And I could do an msi for the final release, you'll have to handle all the payment stuff at the end if it is a $19.99 game, you'll need a website, and SSL certificates for the payment, then I will have the MSI install option and EXE option, you might also want to construct a linux version and a pc version. Now if it is free, I could do a brinkster web with the download there. Heres a pic of the msi. The blanks would be filled in with Tribes: Omega

I don't think they should waste $20 on something worthless.

There are other webhosts out there that are much cheaper as well.

Passwords aren't that hard to crack, especially if they are contained within the .exe.

And yes, keen is correct, NSis is better than MSI.
  • should probably do more than that conscidering we have tribes in the name of the game yknow copywright is a b!tch and the companies that own the franchises will sue
  • Soulice, just go away.

Absolutly clueless. If you had to pay for it, most of the time, they pack online games in windows installers. on the occasion, it would be an executable. MSI files are known for packing executables and DLL's. You don't get the point, I would not use a license key. BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BUY IT to even get it. And I certainly would not use executables, well, on occasions.

    .::Edit::.
I'm compelled to agree with Num. ;)
Blnukem and Numbuh, I want nothing to do with you two this time. Anyway. Shinobi, I need your opinion on these files in the zip I gave you.

I am just trying to stay away from C++ and C. That is what I agreed on. Up until now. In fact, I deleted all of my posts in the download thread

That won't be possible. They will need to use some form of C++ code to do the projectile types.

Soulice, do not double post, edit your existing posts.

Absolutely clueless describes you perfectly. NSIS is free. TN uses NSIS. No licensing fees, or crappy websites or pointless needs for encryption and/or passwords.

If you are afraid of virii, then it's more a fault of your choice of anti-virus software, or downloading pirated software from torrents or porn sites. Executable files will not magically have a virus.

    Quoted for truth.
  • Soulice, multi-posting is rather annoying. Use the edit feature next time.

Hmmm... Maybe this is a sign Soulice? What do you think?
  • Yay, i found somewhere with internet, ill be back in 3 days so ill check those files later, please stop arguing and also would NSIS help make an account system?
  • No, NSIS is only an installer program.
  • I'm gona say one sentance about this project....

    Good luck with tgea.....
  • OK, well... as soon as I get home, Im planning on decompiling the existing Interior files and port them over to Torque Constructor, sure it will be slow but atleast it should work :p

You dont need a website or an installer yet. so i concur with blnukem and numbuh
find something useful to do. we can work these out when we have actually gotten somewhere. and i think Krash it letting people host on hosted.tribesnext.com
    so yeah.
  • Yeah, I guess Sig s right, we haven't got very far into development yet so an installer wouldn't really be necessary even when we get the first couple of betas out to the public we wouldn't want people to install since they will be updating it every now and then, also Sig; Krash is letting people host on hosted.TribesNext.com?
  • I would venture to say no as technically this isn't TN related. But try your luck, maybe you might get lucky.
  • Keen bean, do you play EVE?

I'm saying to let people know about the future. Man. I am the only one who sucks at coding but rocks at websites. Other than Krash. Anyway, when it releases to the public permanently, you'll have to spend another few weeks using HTML to have a website put up. I use a very expensive tool. In the future when the project is done, I'll send Shinobi the files and some sites that host the files and the HTML tuts on editing. Plus I suggest for account editors, download Visual C++ 2008 Express, and Visual C++ 2010 Express when it comes.

Man, blank page. My TN profile is Sythe.

Sythe? No wonder... look man, just... stop trying. Go learn some actual programming somewhere and be useful to an insurance company or something. That being said, I think Shinobi would probably be able to utilize your services in this... omegamatic... omegatron? omega...thing.

Also a discussion on the IRC Server last night, brought this point to my attention.

Ensure your game supports IPv6, otherwise you will have some problems in the coming years.
  • Ensure your game supports IPv6, otherwise you will have some problems in the coming years.

I think you missed a point somewhere.

Though it might just be me, but I do not see a day when all of a sudden we hear "Okay IPv4 is shutting down, change to v6 or leave the internets".

Especially not considering how easy it would be to setup a gateway...
  • What's IPv4?
  • the current format of our IP Addresses.
  • And IPv6 is mostly the same, but with more digits and letters added in.
  • I'm saying to let people know about the future. Man. I am the only one who sucks at coding but rocks at websites. Other than Krash.

I'm not entirely sure here, since he used way too many periods in his paragraph, probably because he was so excited about getting to the part where he tells us about websites and programs, but...

It sounds like he is saying Krash sucks at coding, Lol.
  • Sythe, seriously stop double posting or I'll see what powers I can abuse on you.
  • Whilst I might be able to use the resources provided by Soulice, if there is no reason to use them, then why use them, and also, im sure there would be a way to convert to this IPv6 thing so yeah... also I guess this is unofficially connected to TN since its developed by people using TN (im going crazy xD) also, I have now got a train ticket so I will be home by 4pm tomorrow GMT.
